Alison & Carlo

Alison and Carlo met on a dating app in March of 2022, just as they were both emerging from Minnesota winter hibernation. They discovered that they both worked at the University of Minnesota and lived just a few blocks away from each other. They went on their first date at a coffee shop in their neighborhood. They instantly bonded over being former camp counselors, their love of the outdoors, and their similar experiences volunteering and working with refugees. Carlo loved Alison’s laugh, and Alison loved how calm and at ease she felt around Carlo from the very beginning.

Carlo and Alison went on a couple more dates after that while Alison was on an “easy” month in residency, but then she went into 3 straight months of inpatient rotations with only 1 day off a week and crazy hours. To Alison’s surprise, somehow Carlo stuck around even though she couldn’t always respond to his texts or see him very often. Carlo knew she was worth the effort, and after hanging around through all of that, Alison knew he was a keeper. 

Even with the busyness of Alison’s residency and Carlo’s PhD program, they always found time to go on adventures together. From state parks in Minnesota to their first trip together to Denver, to a big expedition to the Grand Canyon, they love exploring the outdoors with each other. They also love cooking and trying new restaurants together. They both knew several months into dating that they had found their forever person, and now they can’t wait to celebrate their love with friends and family.
